Sustainability Pathways for Africa (SP4A), a non-governmental organisation, has called for the federal government’s intervention in mitigating the impact of flooding in Mbiama, Ahoada west LGA of Rivers.
Sustainability Pathways for Africa , says there is a need for an intervention by the federal governmentOn April 17, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency , in its 2024 seasonal climateSamuel Chime, SP4A’s advocacy lead, spoke on Monday dChime said the event was held to educate the community on sustainable flood preparedness strategies and provide them with early warning information.He added that the community has a history of severe floods, with 2022 being the most devastating.
“Sustainability Pathways for Africa recognizes the community’s need for long-term solutions and implores relevant Nigerian government agencies and non-governmental organisations to assist Mbiama and other communities at high risk of flooding with timely measures to reduce their vulnerability to flooding, as well as a sincere, credible, and inclusive process of relief, resettlement, and post-flooding events,” Okorie said.
