The Nation Newspaper NFF defends Finidi’s choice for Super Eagles
has defended its choice of former international winger Finidi George as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
A member of the influential technical committee and erstwhile Nigeria International, Felix Owolabi, has shed light on why George got the nod, adding that the committee picked the former Ajax winger due to his vast knowledge of the domestic league.
“The very best way to do this is to have one of us who knows about the local league; one of us who would be committed to ensuring that a great percentage of our players from the local league form the bulk of the national team,” added Owolabi in an interview with Brila fm.But another ex-international, Sam Sodje, has slammed the NFF for being evasive over George’s contract terms and emoluments as it would have done were the Enyimba coach a foreigner.
“They should have named the assistants with him, how much he’s going to be paid and do things properly because they would have done that with a foreign coach.
