Mozambican attacking midfielder Amansio Joao Pita ‘Neymar’ Canhembe is back producing head-turning performances as he works his way towards reviving his career after the disappointment of a failed move to Kaizer Chiefs. Canhembe trained with Chiefs along with Stanley Ratifo, Maurizio Macorig and Christian Saile Basomboli in December but only the latter was offered a deal.He has since joined Mocambola champions Uniao Desportivo de Songo after also training with Sekhukhune United who already had five foreign players registered for this season.
The 25-year-old was also offered a contract at relegation threatened Moroccan club Olympique Club de Khouribga but opted not to pursue that option. With two games played in Mozambique, the former Sporting Lisbon youth player has featured in both games – a 1-0 win over Ferroviario Nampula and a 1-0 defeat to AD Vilanculo .“I want to play football regular football again.
“Once I have played everything will take care of itself because I still have ambitions to play outside,” says Canhembe whose last bit of competitive game time was in Portugal last year.
