Nigeria's independent online newspaper
The daily newspapers report the gruesome deaths of police officers and civilians in attacks on multiple banks in Benue. Some Nigerians are raising eyebrows over the $400 million the president is expected to borrow from the World Bank for cash transfers.
Nation reports that the Business and Property Courts of England and Wales in London is set to deliver judgment on Monday in the case filed by Nigeria seeking the dismissal of an $11billion arbitration award in favour of Process & Industrial Development Ltd. The newspaper says the Independent National Electoral Commission has appealed to political parties in the country to desist from spreading malicious rumours capable of undermining the electoral process.
Daily Trust says Attahiru Jega, a former chairman of INEC, said the president should be stripped of powers to appoint the chairman and national commissioners of the electoral commission. The paper reports that two suspects have been arrested after a 19-year-old student was beaten to death by teachers.
