The Punch says upsets may likely occur during today’s governorship and house of assembly elections as 28 states are set to elect new governors. The newspaper reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to constitutional amendment bills that give power to the states to control railways, prisons, and power projects.
THISDAY reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission has promised to upload results from polling units to the result viewing portal in real-time. The newspaper says President Buhari signed 16 constitutional amendment bills. The Nation says INEC has clarified its award of contract to the tune of N434 million to Binani Printing Press purportedly owned by Aishatu Binani, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa state.
Daily Trust reports that 11 female candidates are eyeing governorship seats in the northern part of the country. The newspaper says that the court has ordered INEC to upload results on the IReV portal during the governorship and house of assembly elections. The Guardian says INEC has announced that supplementary national assembly elections will be conducted after the governorship election. The newspaper reports that the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin over the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.
