News Central, a media channel focused on telling African stories, has been honoured with an award at the International Association of Women Police conference (IAWP) for its outstanding role in supporting women across Nigeria.
L-R: Kayode Akintemi, the managing director and editor-in-chief of News Central TV, was presented with an award as the Pillar of Support for Women for the television station by Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector-general of police, during the closing ceremony of the International Association of Women Police in Abuja.
News Central, a media channel focused on telling African stories, has been honoured with an award at the International Association of Women Police conference for its outstanding role in supporting women across Nigeria.The award recognises News Central’s commitment to promoting gender equality, empowering women in law enforcement, developmental journalism, and community engagement, the organisers said.
The organisers added that the television channel has continued to champion initiatives that empower women and promote diversity within the media industry, noting that the station has been instrumental in providing a platform for women’s voices.Speaking after receiving the award, Akintemi said the recognition would serve as a motivation for the media organisation to do much more.
“It is an honour to receive this recognition on behalf of News Central TV. Our mission has always been to create a media landscape that is reflective of our diverse society and to empower women to tell their stories,” he said.“News Central TV remains committed to its core values of integrity, innovation, and inclusivity.
