This was disclosed in a press statement by the state’s Commissioner for information, Home Affairs and Culture, Abdulkarim Sirika.
He said the essence of declaring the holiday was to remind Muslims in the state about the Islamic Calendar and its significance in their activities. The governor in the statement tasked the people of the state to use the period to reflect on the teaching of Islam and practice of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and ensure they live their lives in accordance to the teachings of Islam.
Governor Masari also admonished Muslims and other religious faithful to pray for the peace, unity and progress of the country during the holiday.
