Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services for the northeastern Ontario fire region reported there are currently 33 active wildland fires in the region. Of these, 26 are being observed, five are under control and two are not under control.The AFFES says the fire hazard varies between low and moderate for areas in the southern part of the Northeast Region, and between moderate and high for areas between Parry Sound, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Hearst.
Areas further north, including Cochrane and Moosonee, are also seeing a low fire hazard. For a closer look at fire hazard conditions, view the MNR's interactive map. To report a wildland fire located north of the French and Mattawa rivers, dial 310-FIRE. To report a forest fire located south of the French or Mattawa rivers, dial 911.
