PETALING JAYA: Another Covid-19 cluster has emerged in the east coast of Sabah in Tawau, and it has been dubbed the Udin cluster.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the index case is a 72-year-old woman who tested positive following a screening for senior citizens at the Merotai health clinic on Sept 12.

“Both of these positive cases involve Filipinos. They are asymptomatic and have been admitted to the Tawau hospital for treatment,” said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement on Wednesday . This brought the total number of cases in the cluster to 729, whereby 414 are Malaysians, 202 are Filipinos and 113 are Indonesians.

“The Laut cluster in Semporna also recorded eight new cases, bringing the total number to 12, involving all Filipinos.
