Shettima Jauro Muhammad has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, taking over from AIG Shehu Umar Nadada.

Shettima Jauro Muhammad has assumed the mantle of leadership as the 29th Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State . Muhammad replaces AIG Shehu Umar Nadada, who was promoted to the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police . The announcement of this appointment was made on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, DSP Ramhan Nansel.

According to the statement, CP Muhammad hails from Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State and holds a degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Maiduguri. He was enlisted into the police force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet ASP, where he gained extensive experience through various assignments. He has held positions such as Assistant Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Zone 8 Lokoja and Gombe State. In his inaugural address as Commissioner, Muhammad appealed to the people of Nasarawa State to cooperate and provide valuable information to assist in combating crime. He stated: 'I call on all residents of Nasarawa State to assist the police by providing crucial information that will enable us to address security challenges.
