The National Equestrian Federation (NEF) visited Kano State to conduct the National Equestrian Talent Hunt in the state. The opening ceremony of this program was held on Monday at the Usman Dantata Polo Field in Kano . Speaking at the event, NEF President, Dr. Obiora Anthony, stated that Kano was chosen because of its renowned equestrian culture. Dr.

Obiora said, 'Kano is the heartland of horse racing in Nigeria because it has a rich equestrian tradition with people who are very passionate and skilled in this field, therefore there is no better place for this program than Kano.' 'We have the support of the Emir of Kano, the Governor of the state, the Commissioner for Sports, and the entire community. The aim is to train our youth to compete with other countries because we are already in talks with some countries that are interested in taking Nigerian athletes for training abroad.'
