The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it has arrested a man with 4,000 tramadol pills at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA director of media and advocacy, said in a statement on Sunday that the suspect concealed the substance in female clothing and granulated melon tucked in his backpack. Babafemi said he was arrested at the Gate ‘C ‘departure hall of the Lagos airport on Friday while trying to export the pills to Malpensa, Italy, on an Ethiopian Airline flight.for 700 Euros on successful delivery of the consignment in Italy,” Babafemi said.The NDLEA spokesperson also said its operatives in Bayelsa have arrested a 28-year-old woman, for allegedly producing and distributing cakes laced with illicit drugs, in Amarata area of Yenagoa.
Babafemi said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, with a substantial amount of the drugged cakes weighing 1.5kg, recovered from her.
