The Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) says it committed to conducting thorough research to determine the root causes of collapsed roads or buildings, whether they are private or public infrastructure. Engr Celestine Ezeagu and Builder Nwaigwe Daniel, Chairman and Secretary of NBRRI, respectively, led a team to Asaba to investigate a recently collapsed
building. The team was in Asaba to investigate and understand the reasons behind the building collapse, with a focus on providing findings to stakeholders to prevent future incidents. Ezeagu stated, 'We thank the state government for the preliminary access granted to our team and urge them to provide full access to the site for a thorough investigation. We aim to prevent future occurrences not only on this project but also on subsequent projects and make recommendations.
' He noted that the federal ministry of works often relies on their reports, adding that their goal is to prevent casualties and provide recommendations to regulatory bodies and the state government. On the delay in commencing the investigation on the collapsed site, Ezeagu explained that they have engaged with the ministry and are awaiting the necessary approvals from the commissioner.
