The Nigerian Navy has rescued 18 crew members of a Chinese vessel, MV HAILUFANG II, from pirates attack in the Gulf of Guinea.
It was gathered that the crew members, comprising Chinese, Ghanaians and Ivoirians, were attacked by pirates on May 15, 2020, off the coast of Cote d’Ivoire.
The statement read in part, “The pirates took control of the vessel and directed the vessel towards Nigerian waters. “Hence, the NN had to conduct an opposed boarding of the vessel. All the ship’s crew were safely rescued, while 10 pirates were arrested.
