President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with the leaders of the organised labour – the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) – at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja. The meeting is holding amid the nationwide strike which led to demonstrations and protests in several parts of the country over the untold hardship brought on Nigerians by the Tinubu administration which is barely two months old. Several meetings between the labour leaders and the Nigerian government’s delegation had in the recent past failed to yield any results.

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with the leaders of the organised labour – the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress – at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

Days ago, the National Executive Council, NEC, of the Nigeria Labour Congress endorsed the August 2 nationwide strike and mass protests by NLC over the recent hike in pump price of petrol. “To this end, NEC-in-session applauds, Re-affirms and supports all the decisions of the Central Working Committee Meeting of the 25th of July, 2023 of the immediate reversal of all anti-poor policies of the federal government including the recent hike in PMS price, Increase in Public School fees, the release of the eight months withheld Salary of University lecturers and Workers and increase in VAT.
