The Transmission Company of Nigeria has revealed that the vandalisation of Lokoja-Gwagwalada 330 kilovolt transmission line 1 is the reason for the blackout in Lokoja, Kogi State. TCN disclosed this in a statement by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, on Sunday.
According to TCN , the latest attack occurred in the earlier hours of Saturday, November 9, 2024, affecting transmission lines 306, 307, and 308 along Lokoja -Gwagwalada line 1. The company noted that the incessant vandalization of transmission equipment is heavily impacting the stability of the country’s national grid , which had recorded a series of collapses in recent time.
'The rising trend of vandalism targeting transmission lines and towers has become a significant challenge, severely impacting the country’s power infrastructure and hindering the expansion and stability of the national grid. This recent incident adds to an alarming pattern of attacks on the transmission network nationwide.
