Nasarawa Amazons FC have emerged champions of the 2026 Women’s President Federation Cup after defeating Heartland Queens FC of OwerriThe keenly contested final ended 1-1 after regulation time, with Nasarawa Amazons coming from a goal down to level the score in the second half before prevailing in the shootout to secure victory.
The triumph marks the club’s third Women’s President Federation Cup title and comes a year after they suffered defeat in the final. Speaking after the match, captain of Nasarawa Amazons FC, Confidence Nwoha, attributed the team’s success to determination and the encouragement of their coach.
“We thank God for the coach that we have. She is always there to encourage us psychologically. Last year, we lost in the final, and we were determined that this year would be our year,” she said. Heartland Queens captain, Chimebere Opara, described the officiating as fair but expressed disappointment over the result.
“I am not happy that we lost, but I know better days lie ahead. I appeal to the Imo Sstate government to continue to support us and believe in us.
Next year, we will do better,” she said.
