Popular socio-political activist, Deji Adeyanju on Tuesday backed the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele over his insistence on the
Adeyanju said politicians pushing for an extension of the deadline are interested in vote-buying.
In a chat with DAILY POST, Adeyanju wrote: “I stand with Godwin Emefiele on January 31st deadline of new currency. The politicians fighting this are just interested in vote buying.”the mop-up of old naira notes to 31st July 2023.In December 2022, the CBN redesigned the N200, N500 and N1000 denominations and released the new notes into circulation.Despite criticisms from Nigerians, the CBN governor had insisted that the January 31st deadline was sacrosanct.
