Federal Capital Territory Administration has announced new fines in line with its ‘park and pay’ policy.the park and pay policy after it signed an agreement with two concessionaires.

Olusade Adesola, FCTA permanent secretary, had said the move became imperative to promote orderliness and organisation in vehicle parking in the nation’s capital city. According to Adesola, under the scheme, parking lots would be provided for vehicle owners for a fee, while motorists who indulge in wrong parking would be fined.He said charges from the policy would be consolidated and shared between the administration and the six area councils.Under the scheme, two concessionaires, NAJEC Limited and Automaten Technik Bauman Nig. Ltd , were to undertake the park and pay policy in two zones in the FCT.

Automaten Technik Bauman Nig. Ltd expected revenue over the same period was given as N15.05 billion.Two months after the policy was announced, billboards bearing the parking charges and penalties, have been spotted around the nation’s capital.Parking at a “no parking zone” and jaywalking cost N20,000 each.
