Pensioners and vulnerable persons in Ondo State are to start receiving N10,000 monthly from August to December. This was part of the palliatives to be provided by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal. Other measures include the distribution of free food packages to one million households across the 18 local government areas and the restoration of free shuttle buses for students from September to December 2023. Free shuttle boats and life jackets would be provided for students in the riverine areas. Ondo Commissioner for Finance and Chairman, Palliative Strategy and Implementation Committee, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, who announced these measures at a briefing in Akure, said affordable rates would be charged for the shuttle buses from January 2024.
