The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Thursday, demolished worship centres, shops, shanties and other illegal structures built on road
Ikharo Attah, Chairman, FCTA Ministerial Taskforce on City Sanitation, led the operation. Scores of security operatives were deployed. He said most of the affected worship centres extended their buildings and fence to the road shoulders.
Attah said a number of shanties and containers on the roadside, across and deep inside the Mpape market have been destroyed since yesterday. “Today, we carried out a major operation and cleared illegal structures and others that were extended to the road shoulders and we shifted them back.” The chairman added that all the plots to be reclaimed by the end of the exercise would be handled by FCTA departments.
