Residents and commercial drivers plying the Ijora Road in the Apapa-Iganmu Local Government Area of Lagos State are lamenting the bad state of the road and the traffic gridlock being caused by the indiscriminate parking of trucks on the road connecting Apapa and Idumota.
Our correspondent who visited the area on Tuesday noticed potholes on the road and further observed that the rainy season had worsened the situation.
Our correspondent also noticed the trucks parked on the road and how motorists had difficulty navigating their way. A resident simply identified as Anjola, in an interview, said residents always had harrowing experiences on the road during the rainy season. She said, “Ijora Road is bad. The bad state of the road causes accidents, especially due to the trucks. When it rains, the road becomes bad and it has affected our source of livelihood and also the vehicles that pass the area.
“The road has been damaged for a long time. Truckers do not help the matter because they keep obstructing and damaging the road that we the residents are managing.”
