The FRSC spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, disclosed this to our correspondent recently.

“As of today, the Corps has sustained engagement with stakeholders to deepen the level of compliance. Part of these engagements is the stakeholders meeting organised by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in collaboration with the Corps to introduce a policy on pre-fitted speed-limiting devices for imported and locally manufactured vehicles.

“More so, the Corps Transport Standardisation Office goes all out to inspect fleets nationwide with a view of ensuring that the device is installed and well-calibrated.” On the level of compliance, Kazeem said, “The compliance level is above board, especially the organised fleet operators. They have actually worked with our Commanding Officers nationwide to ensure a full transition to the speed limiter regime.

“As it stands today, almost all registered fleet operators have installed the device in their vehicles. The Corps is also making serious moves in enforcement, particularly other commercial vehicle operators that do not have a fleet. The essence is to ensure that collectively speed-related crashes are brought to an end.”All rights reserved.
