Prime Minister Scott Morrison has defended his Home Affairs Minister from Chinese criticism he is engaged in an anti-Beijing propaganda.

Mr Dutton said Australians were entitled to ask more questions of the Chinese Communist Party about the origins of the pandemic.

"They might think that's somehow undermining my credibility, I just don't get it, I don't understand why they can't answer the questions if there's nothing to hide." The Home Affairs Minister said he wanted to draw a clear distinction between the questionable actions of the communist party, and the support that should be provided to Australians of Asian heritage.
