Trump says will meet KimJongUn at DMZ on Sunday afternoon for third meeting, to have ‘handshake for peace’
SEOUL - South Korean President Moon Jae-in has said he will accompany US President Donald Trump on Sunday afternoon to the demilitarised zone separating the two Koreas, where Mr Trump invited North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to come and"say hello".
"Chairman Kim wants to do it, I'd like to do it. I know that it's very difficult in terms of logistics, security, very complicated," said Mr Trump, adding that South Korea is also working hard to make the meeting happen."I'm told that Kim Jong Un would like to meet and that it looks like they're in the final stages of working out just a very quick meeting," Mr Trump said.
If it all works out, this would mark the third face-to-face meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Kim since they embarked on dialogue in June last year aimed at normalising ties and ending the North's nuclear programme. Talks have stalled since February, when the two sides failed to narrow their differences over how to advance the denuclearisation process.
Even if the two leaders only have time for a photo and handshake,"it would be a historic event in itself", he added.
