Jay Slater went missing on Monday morning after he left with two other men while out with friends on the island
A local woman in Tenerife says that missing Lancashire teenager Jay Slater was seen "'walking on his own" before disappearing as search efforts enter a fifth day.
Police have since been searching in a rural mountainous area in the north west of Tenerife where he was last located, near to the village of Masca. A woman identified only as Araceli, who works in a business next to the rental property, told the Mirror: "I never saw the missing boy, but I know people saw him walking on his own. I saw the two British men who stayed here."They came in for café con leche a couple of times. One was aged about 40. The other one was slightly younger.
When asked if they had to remain to be interviewed by the local cops, she responded: "I don't know." The holiday home was apparently rented by these two men who were with Jay before he went missing, but both men have checked out of their accommodation and flew back to the UK on Wednesday. Jay's phone died shortly after and his last known location was traced to the Rural de Teno area, a mountainous part of the island. His parents and brother have since flown out to help with the search.
