The Nigerian Army said its troops have foiled attack on surrendered terrorists by suspected Islamic State of West African Province terrorists in Borno.
A statement titled, ‘Operation Hadin Kai: Troops foil ISWAP desperate move to attack surrendered Boko Haram members in Damboa,’ by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General, Onyema Nwachukwu, said the sect was frustrated as fighters were surrendering and wanted to discourage more from laying down their arms.
“This palpable apprehension might have led ISWAP on Saturday, October 2, 2021, to embark on a mission to annihilate or capture BHTs, who surrendered in Damboa. “The terrorists made futile attempt to access the facility housing the surrendered BHT members, but retreated when confronted with the superior firepower of troops.”
