Microsoft confirmed further problems with the 24H2 update of Windows 11 at the weekend. There are issues with Asus devices, the Voicemeter app and the camera.
Microsoft has confirmed further problems that can occur when installing the 24H2 update for Windows 11. Asus devices are among the affected systems, but the Voicemeter app or use of the camera can also trigger unexpected errors or even blue screens., Microsoft 's developers write that the installation of Windows 11 24H2 fails on certain Asus devices. The X415KA and X515KA models "may run into an issue where the system is unable to complete the update".
When using the integrated cameras on some devices with face or object recognition activated, unspecified problems may occur. These include the camera app, use of facial recognition by Windows Hello and other apps that use the built-in camera. Microsoft's temporary solution here is also to block the update offer on potentially affected devices with the Safeguard ID 53340062.
Microsoft expressly recommends that you do not manually install the 24H2 version on devices on which the update offer is blocked and not displayed. On affected systems, the Windows 11 installation wizard or the Media Creation Tool should not be used until the problem has been solved. These are not the first flaws that have become known with the 24H2 update of Windows 11. For example, the hard disk cleanup persistently shows several GBytes of free space in the Windows update cache, after the on-board cleaning tools were supposed to clean up exactly there. Microsoft has now classified this as a display error. The developers want to correct it with an upcoming update.
