According to Marca, Messi won the IFFHS award after accumulating 170 points in the ranking process.The former Barcelona captain is ahead of the second position, Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, who is second with 115 points.
The likes of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezman round off the top six. Messi has won the award more than any other footballer – five times, with Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez next to him with four wins.The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has netted 12 goals and provided 14 assists in 19 matches across all competitions for PSG so far this season.
