KUALA LUMPUR 20 Mac – “Kita pilih berasaskan kepada kebolehan tertentu, kadang-kadang apabila berunding, kita perlu ada orang yang boleh diterima pihak lain.”
Begitu penjelasan Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad ketika menjawab soalan tambahan Datuk Seri Dr. Ismail Mohamed Said yang ingin mengetahui mengapa rundingan projek Landasan Keretapi Pantai Timur diketuai oleh bekas Pengerusi Majlis Penasihat Kerajaan, Tun Daim Zainuddin dan bukannya Menteri Kewangan, Lim Guan Eng.
Dr. Mahathir berkata, terdapat juga sekatan-sekatan tertentu dalam pemilihan individu yang akan melakukan rundingan tersebut. “Sebab itu, kita memilih orang lain setelah dinilai sebagai seorang yang berkelayakan dan berkebolehan untuk berunding dengan negara China. “Itu lah sebabnya kita memilih Tun Daim,” katanya dalam sesi soal jawab sidang Dewan Rakyat, hari ini. – UTUSAN ONLINE
