Taking to Facebook, the group shared the two images side-by-side writing: "Last night we had a member of the public who sent us a picture that they had taken of Merlin Castle, Co. Galway. "Upon close inspection of the picture, the person was very concerned of what they had captured. As we are based not far from Merlin Castle we went to see if we could get the same image. Picture 2 is our photo that we had taken."
People took to the comments to question what they were seeing, with one person writing: "Is that a face on the door handle??"However, one person remained more sceptical, writing: "It looks photo shopped." The group defended the picture, writing: "Bring it to someone and have it checked out bud let us know how you get on."It was originally the site of a castle built in the 12th century for the High King of Ireland, Turlough O’Connor, but the structure we see today dates from the 16th century.
