Strings From Paris, a Toronto music collective, has been going viral on TikTok for their instrumental covers of iconic R&B and hip-hop songs like Drake's 'Over' and Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice.'
Viewers have been mesmerized by the group’s 30-second-to-one-minute performances online, requesting songs in the comments as well as demanding full versions to stream.
Each member knew Paris before joining, either from playing in the same youth orchestra or attending the same undergrad program. Like him, they all have a passion for playing string instruments outside the classical realm. Rather than becoming soloists, a common route for many classical musicians, the Strings From Paris members appreciate the opportunity and space to collaborate and create something new together.
