The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has said that the measures taken so far on security issues in the country have not been long-lasting, warning that the Senate needs to come up with permanent solutions.Senator representing Taraba South constituency at the Senate, Emmanuel Bwacha, who introduced the topic, cited Order 42 concerning the issue of insecurity, particularly the problem of kidnapping which, he said, was at “a worrisome and alarming rate in Taraba South and Jalingo.
He then moved a motion on the need to create an intervention fund in the 2019 Appropriation to take care of the humanitarian crises in Zamfara State caused by armed bandits. He lamented, “Measures taken so far on security in the nation are not long-lasting. We have to come up with permanent solutions.”
“Security agencies also need resources to function well. We need to engage and be on the same page with them.”
