MANILA - The announcement of class suspension from mayors must be followed by universities, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said Tuesday.

This, after a university in Manila disobeyed Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno's order of class suspension in all levels and instead cancelled only grade school and high school classes.

DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III cited Executive Order 66, series of 2012, which states suspension of classes and work may be implemented by local chief executives as chairmen of local disaster risk reduction and management councils . "Tama po si Mayor Isko Moreno. Once nagkaroon ng pag-ulan sa isang lugar, whether may signal o wala, automatic 'yung local DRMM sa pamumuno po ng mayor ang magsasabi kung may pasok o wala," he told radio DZMM.

Densing added that mayors should announce class suspensions by 4:30 a.m. or 7 p.m. for cancellation of classes for the next day. He also reminded the public that classes in the following levels, both public and private, will be automatically suspended when the following storm signal warnings are raised:Signal No. 3 - Pre-school, elementary, secondary and tertiary levels
