Nigerian singer May D reveals shocking details about his time with Square Records, including lack of proper accommodation, financial restrictions, and accusations of sabotage by P-Square.

Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, better known as May D , has made startling revelations about his experience while signed to the renowned R&B duo P-Square 's record label, Square Records . During a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, May D shed light on the alleged mistreatment he endured, detailing the lack of basic amenities and financial autonomy he faced.

He recounted an instance when Davido, seeking refuge after a conflict with his father, visited his room at P-Square's mansion. However, Davido was dismayed by the subpar living conditions and declined to stay. 'When Davido was running from his dad, he came to my room in P-Square's house, he was like 'May-D is this where you stay? I can't sleep here oh'...If I had a room, it would have been cooler,' May D shared. Adding to his claims, May D alleged that he was denied a bank account during his four-year tenure with Square Records. He stated, 'For the four years I was with P-Square, I didn't have a bank account. It's only when someone has money that he opens an account.' May D further accused P-Square of actively hindering his potential signing with Akon's Konvict Music, a label they had previously been affiliated with. He revealed that he confided in P-Square about Akon's offer to sign him during a trip to the U.S. for the 'Chop My Money Remix' video shoot, but the duo intervened and prevented the deal from happening. May D's career skyrocketed after joining Square Records in 2011. However, his association with the label ended abruptly in August 2012
