Former Manchester City goalkeeper, Shay Given has claimed that there is a divide between Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and his players. Given made the claim following Man United’s Carabao Cup 3-0 loss to Newcastle on Wednesday.
According to him, there are a lot of fallouts behind the scenes between Ten Hag and his players. Recall that Ten Hag had a fallout with Jadon Sancho in the past few weeks. He called out Sancho for his poor performances in training on September 3 after which the England winger claimed the Dutchman's comments were untrue.
Speaking after Man United’s defeat to Newcastle, Given said : 'It feels there is a real divide, in my opinion, between the players and the manager. I think there are a lot of fallouts behind the scenes that maybe we don’t hear about. “Varane was missing tonight and in the derby, ill, Sancho is out of the picture and Antony has had his issues.' He added, 'At the end of any managerial reign at any club, there seems to be a disbelief.
