A man miraculously survived a harrowing 40-foot fall from a cliff in Co. Kerry on Sunday as rescue teams scrambled to the scene.
An Garda Síochána, the Ballybunion Unit of the Irish Coast Guard, and a rescue helicopter were all on-site in minutes to help the man.READ MORE:Shop in Meath revealed as location where €3.9m Lotto ticket sold as players urged to check tickets After the fall was dealt with in Ballybunion, the public was cautioned over the dangers posed by straying off the main cliff paths after this close call.
Confirming the news on Facebook, Ballybunion Rescue wrote: “At 16:43hrs our pagers were activated for a member of the public who had fallen from the cliffs on the Men’s beach side of the Castle Green.“Casualty was prepared for transport ready for Rescue 115 who hot landed on the beach and lifted to Limerick University Hospital. Wishing a speedy recovery to the casualty”.
Ballybunion Rescue PRO, Omar Fitzell, has since warned that no one should veer off the main cliff paths when cliff walking, and if in danger or doubt, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard, who will provide assistance.
