Police, yesterday, arraigned a public servant, Ekwugbalu Anthony, in an Upper Area Court in Karmo Abuja, for allegedly beating up his wife.The police prosecutor, Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that the defendant’s wife, Adeline, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station on Feb. 28.She alleged that the defendant went to their children’s school and tried to sign them out but the school authority refused.

Ukagha said the complainant reported that she feels unsafe around the defendant due to his persistent threats to kill her and constant beating.However, the defendants denied committing the offence.The judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N150, 000 with one surety in like sum.Maiwada, who ordered the counsel to the defendant to try and settle the matter and adjourned the case until March 20, for further hearing.
