Manchester City are happy with their transfer business this summer but must quickly turn attention to bigger issues ahead.
Txiki Begiristain declared himself pleased with Manchester City's transfer business and squad balance after the summer window. In came Ilkay Gundogan and Savinho, out went Julian Alvarez and Sergio Gomez. A £124m profit added to the positivity around the Etihad after deadline day.
City will let Guardiola decide his future in his own time. He wants to see how his players will motivate themselves for the challenge of seeking a fifth-successive title and has been impressed so far. He also wants to take charge of City for the Club World Cup in June and July - which falls right when his deal will expire at the end of June.
Ederson, Walker and Bernardo are all out of contract in 2026, as are Stefan Ortega, John Stones and James McAtee. Next summer could be the last year City would be able to demand a fee for those players if they are not given extensions.Julian Alvarez left this year after wanting more than being a backup and while Erling Haaland has started the year in imperious form, he cannot play every game for 11 months and City won't let him.
