Man charged with murder of woman and seven counts of rape after being extradited to the UK
A MAN has been charged with murder of a woman found in a children’s playground, as well as seven other counts of rape after being extradited to the UK from India.
The charges against him include attempted murder, seven counts of rape, five counts of assault, possessing a knife or bladed article in a public place, possessing an offensive weapon and one count of sexual assault.Michelle Samaraweera was found dead, aged 35, in a children’s playground in Walthamstow on May 30, 2009.
A Metropolitan Police statement confirmed: "A man has been charged with a murder in Walthamstow in 2009 after being extradited from India."On his arrival, he was charged with the murder and rape of Michelle Samaraweera who died after being attacked in Walthamstow on 30 May 2009.
