The Cross River police command says a 54-year-old man was arrested for beating his lover to death over a misunderstanding in the Calabar South LGA.
NAN reports that Irene Ugbo, police spokesperson, confirmed the incident on Wednesday in Calabar, the state capital.During a misunderstanding, the suspect was said to have attacked the victim identified simply as Ndereke.The police spokesperson said the Uwanse divisional police headquarters received a distress call and arrested the suspect at the scene.
“The police rushed the victim to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital . Unfortunately, she didn’t make it, as she was certified dead on arrival by the doctor on duty,” she said. ”Following established protocols, her remains were deposited in the morgue for autopsy, to shed more light on the exact cause of her death.“The suspect is already in our custody and we will ensure that he faces the full weight of justice for his alleged action.”
