Prof. Kembe went into isolation and treatment for two weeks after testing positive for the virus alongside the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Godwin Achinge who later died of COVID-19 complications.
Announcing his status yesterday in a letter to the management of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor recalled that “I had on July 2, 2020, informed you of the result of my COVID-19 test which returned positive. I immediately went into isolation with my wife and was managed under the care of the Benue State COVID-19 team.
“It is with joy and glory to God that I write to inform you that I was successfully discharged from isolation on being Friday, July 17, 2020. “I pray for the quick recovery of the Wife of the Governor, Dr Mrs Eunice Ortom and her son, top Government functionaries affected, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, and all who are receiving care for COVID-19 and other health issues.
“To my distinguished colleagues and students and indeed the entire members of the Benue State University community, kindly note that the virus is real but by adhering strictly to the NCDC guidelines and protocols, together we shall conquer. “These are very strange times in our world’s history and the need to work together to defeat this pandemic cannot be overemphasized,” he added. All rights reserved.
