Hundreds of street sweepers under the employ of Oyo state Waste Management Authority were excited on Tuesday following a directive by Governor Seyi Makinde that their five- month salaries be paid within 24 hours.Makinde, while addressing the workers at the Governor’s office, stated the current administration considers workers welfare topmost priority.
According to him: “The last time I addressed you is about a month ago and I told you that the money owed you by your previous employer; Energy West Africa, will be paid by the state government because the state government was supposed to pay the contractor but I told them not to effect the payment until your own salaries are paid.
