Harry Maguire discusses the differences between Man United's new manager, Ruben Amorim, and his predecessor, Erik ten Hag, highlighting Amorim's demanding approach and the challenges of adapting to a new system.
Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire has compared current manager Ruben Amorim with the club's former head coach Erik ten Hag. Amorim officially replaced Ten Hag in November after the Dutchman was sacked by Man United following a series of poor results. The Portuguese have won four out of the ten matches in charge of the Red Devils so far in all competitions.
Speaking ahead of Man United's Premier League home clash with Newcastle United on Monday, Maguire said Amorim is the 'total opposite' of Ten Hag in terms of what they want in the team. The England international added that Amorim is really demanding compared to Ten Hag. 'The thing is with the managers and the styles, it is not like they have come in and they have similar styles,' Maguire told Sky Sports. 'They are the total opposite in terms of what they want and what they demand. 'So the transition period is going to be tough. We all have great belief in the manager and all his coaching staff. I am sure things are going to turn around. He knows exactly what he needs to do to get this club back. 'He has come in and done everything he needs to do. He is really demanding.
