Magu: Fighting corruption, not an economic policy – Peter Obi
A former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has said it is a waste of time to fight corruption as an economic policy.
Obi said the ordeal of the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , Ibrahim Magu, is hurting Nigeria more than the accused, the Sun reports. Magu is under investigation by a presidential panel for allegedly mismanaging loot recovered by EFCC.“I said even during the presidential election that you can fight thieves, but that should not be the primary focus of a government.
“Fighting corruption as an economic policy is a waste of everybody’s time. You can fight thieves, by what you are doing to salvage, strengthen, and rejig your economy.“Let me tell you, what Magu is going through today is hurting the country more than it is hurting Magu if you don’t know. Some people think today that oh Magu is in a mess, that Magu is this and that, but do you know who is in a mess? Nigeria,” Obi said.
