Avoid the area if you can
Three lanes on the M1 have reopened after a multi-vehicle crash caused tailbacks of 10 miles. The lanes were closed on the southbound carriageway between junction 29 for the A617 to junction 28 for the A38 after the crash, reported at around 7.24am.
Officials from National Highways: East Midlands said there was 10 miles of congestion, causing delays of about 90 minutes. "Over 90 minute delays on the M1 southbound between J29 Chesterfield and J28 Mansfield due to a collision which has closed 3 lanes," they said. "There is about 10 miles of congestion on approach to the closures. If possible use an alternative route." The incident was reported at around 7.24am on Thursday . Follow our blog for live updates.
