The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon grid under yellow alert on Tuesday, following the forced outage of several plants across the country.
In an advisory, the NGCP said the Luzon Grid will be on yellow alert from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, indicating that the grid has thin reserves based on the difference between supply and demand.
The operating requirement stands at 11,385 megawatts, with the available capacity at 12,251 megawatts and a net operating margin of 412 megawatts. The NGCP noted a total unplanned unavailable energy of 1,592 megawatts due to the forced outage of QPPL, SLPGC 1, SLPGC3, SLPGC 4, GMEC 1, GMEC 2, and Calaca.
