Heineken Lokpobiri, minister of state, petroleum resources (oil), has directed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the petrol tanker explosion that occurred in Jigawa.

“Only a few days ago, I emphasized the importance of safety in petroleum product transportation during discussions with the FRSC Corps Marshall,” the minister said.“Therefore, I have immediately directed the NMDPRA to carry out a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.”
The minister called on the petroleum tanker drivers and the National Association of Road Transport Owners to work closely with the FRSC and NMDPRA to ensure that only certified, licenced drivers are employed to transport petroleum products.Lokpobiri also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and the injuries caused by the explosion.
