The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to curbing pipeline vandalism and ensuring that residents of the state are protected from the activities of pipeline vandals.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sholabomi Shasore, stated this at a stakeholders’ forum/public enlightenment programme organised for oil and gas pipeline hosting communities in the Amuwo Odofin, Abule Ado, Ori Ade, FESTAC and Satellite Town areas of the state.
Shasore, who was represented by the Head of the Oil and Gas Department in the ministry, Sesan Odukoya, decried the avoidable loss of lives and properties caused by the illegal activities of pipeline vandals, according to a statement by the ministry on Sunday. She said the state government was working to bring to the minimum cases of fire outbreaks from pipeline vandalisation.
According to her, stakeholders’ engagement is one of the avenues being explored by the ministry to check the menace of pipeline vandalism.
