JOHOR BARU: Larkin assemblyman Mohd Izhar Ahmad says he will not be quitting Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia to become an independent assemblyman."I only quit as the Labis division chief in April to give a person in the area a chance to be the leader. I want to concentrate my work in my constituency of Larkin," he said on Tuesday .
Asked whether he had any problems working with newly appointed Bersatu chief Mazlan Bujang, he said he had no problems working with anyone. Talk is rife that the former Labis Bersatu chief quit in April due to his unhappiness about issues within the party, with a WhatsApp message circulating purporting to be about his decision to quit.
At least 21 division chiefs had a special meeting at the Bersatu headquarters here on Sunday to pledge their support for newly-minted Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal.Sources said that the Johor Bersatu leaders met with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday to ask him to reconsider his decision in appointing Mazlan and choose Dr Sahruddin as state chief instead.
